On August 29, the delegation met with Mr. Nándor Csepreghy, Deputy Minister of Hungary’s Ministry of Construction and Transportation. Deputy Minister Csepreghy expressed his pleasure at hosting Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị and his delegation. He noted that the responsibilities and functions of Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction are quite similar to those of Hungary’s Ministry of Construction and Transportation.

In addition to discussing experiences in urban planning and architectural management, the two sides also explored potential collaboration between their ministries in construction planning, urban development, and architecture. Following these discussions, Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị instructed the relevant units of the Ministry of Construction to engage with their Hungarian counterparts to develop specific cooperation programs for the near future.

On August 29, the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary. Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị expressed his satisfaction with the positive and comprehensive development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Hungary, which was notably marked by the upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership in September 2018. He attributed this achievement largely to the significant efforts and contributions of the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary.

Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị emphasized that the objective of this visit by the Ministry of Construction and the Economic Committee of the National Assembly to Hungary is to exchange experiences on legal frameworks concerning urban planning, construction, and architecture, thereby further strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Hungary. He also noted that, in addition to contributing to the host country’s economic development, the Vietnamese community in Hungary maintains strong ties to their homeland. This community is an essential part of the national unity bloc and plays a crucial role in promoting the traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Hungary.

On the morning of August 30, 2024, Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị and the delegation paid a courtesy visit to Ms. Matrai Marta, First Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament. During the meeting, Ms. Matrai Marta expressed her heartfelt condolences to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam on the passing of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng. Following the discussion of the visit’s purpose and the outcomes of the meetings with Hungary’s Ministry of Construction and Transportation, Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị continued to address various aspects of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary, particularly preparations for the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2025.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation met with Mr. Tibor Navracsics, Hungary’s Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development. During the meeting, Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị expressed interest in learning from Hungary’s experiences in urban and rural planning. In response, Minister Tibor Navracsics provided insights into Hungary’s legal framework for managing planning, regional coordination, and regional development.

Following the meeting, Minister Nguyễn Thanh Nghị proposed that the two ministries continue to exchange information and experiences in managing sector development. He also suggested focusing on fostering substantive, practical, and effective cooperation between construction enterprises in both countries.

During this visit, the Ministry of Construction delegation also took the opportunity to survey and evaluate urban planning practices in Hungary and to explore several prominent architectural projects in Budapest.
